The pigs were butchered and cooked in earth ovens. The pork was distributed in formal presentations within the community and, usually, to other nearby communities as well. Dramatic dancing and rhetorical speeches were always a part of these ceremonies, and all the people carefully adorned themselves with paint, feathers, leaves, fur, and other finery.
